Personal settings: password, notifications, timezone

Who can do this: Admin, Manager, Foreman, Crew

By the end of this article, you will have updated your name and phone number, changed your password, chosen which notifications you get, set the timezone the app shows dates and times in for you, and chosen how lists look. Personal settings belong to your own account: they change nothing for anyone else in your organization.

Before you start

Steps

To open your personal settings:

  1. On a computer or tablet, select Profile in the sidebar. On a phone, select More at the bottom of the screen, then select Profile under ACCOUNT.
  2. The Account page opens on Profile. Its sections are listed in this order: Profile, UI preferences, Notifications and Timezone. Select a section to open it.

To update your name or phone number:

  1. In Profile, under PERSONAL INFO, change your name in Name.
  2. Type or change your phone number in Phone. It is optional.
  3. Select Save profile.

To change your password:

  1. In Profile, under CHANGE PASSWORD, type your current password in Current password.
  2. Type a new password of at least 8 characters in New password.
  3. Type the same password in Confirm new password.
  4. Select Change password.

To choose how lists look:

  1. Open UI preferences.
  2. In Rows per page, choose how many rows a list shows before paging: 10, 25, 50 or 100.
  3. In Display density, choose Comfortable or Compact.
  4. Select Save.

To choose your notifications:

  1. Open Notifications.
  2. Turn Email notifications on or off.
  3. Turn Push notifications on or off.
  4. Select Save.

To set your timezone:

Saving a timezone cannot be undone back to your organization's default: the page has no choice for that. If your organization's default is not in the list, such as UTC, it is not offered again once you save another timezone.

  1. Open Timezone. The line starting "In effect:" shows the timezone you see dates and times in, and whether it comes from your organization's default or from your own choice.
  2. Choose your timezone in Timezone.
  3. Select Save.

What you see

  • After Save profile, the app shows "Profile updated."
  • After Change password, the app shows "Password changed." and the three password boxes are empty again. You stay signed in.
  • Save is available only once you change something on the page.
  • After Save, the page shows "Display preferences saved." in UI preferences, "Notification preferences saved." in Notifications, and "Timezone saved." in Timezone.
  • After you save a timezone, the "In effect:" line names it and says "from your personal override", and the page says "This is your personal override. Your organization's default no longer applies to your account."
  • If you are an admin, Profile also shows your company's BILLING box, with the plan and Manage Billing.

If something blocks you

  • Nothing is saved when you select Save profile, and Name is empty. Type your name, then select Save profile again.
  • "Session expired" on the sign-in page after you select Change password. The current password you typed was wrong, and the app signed you out. Sign in again, then change your password with your current password typed correctly. If you do not know it, use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page.
  • "New password and confirmation do not match." The two new password boxes hold different passwords. Type the same password in New password and Confirm new password.
  • Nothing is saved when you select Change password, and the new password is shorter than 8 characters. Type a new password of 8 characters or more.
